Uso de las TIC en la educación superior de México. Un estudio de caso.
- Abstract: For the last 10 years, the introduction of technologies of information and communication (TIC) in higher education has been a constant that has allowed a gradual technological habilitation of Mexican universities, and therefore has permitted the application of these technologies in educational programs. At the University of Guadalajara we have looked forward to diversifying the use of TIC's in the University Centers as well as in the High School System, a fact that has been recognized by the evaluation organisms who have certified ninety percent of those programs. In this article we present the application of TIC's to the undergraduate program in Medicine given at the University Center of the South/CUCSUR since 1994. Here we present quantitative, descriptive and transversal research with two timelines of cut corresponding to the years 2004 and 2007, where the evolution of the program concerning the use is reported. We applied survey instrument to 72 students from different grades of the Medicine program -36 for each year of study-, with 43 items measuring the frequency of use of TIC's in their program of studies, as well as some elements measuring quality, rated as follows: "always", "almost every time", "sometimes", "rarely", and "never", these variables were processed through Likert scaling, values ranging from 5 to 1. The results are presented in a scale as well as in percentage values, to entirely show the differences between both periods, and they were also graphically depicted in tables. Most of the results show an advance in the use of TIC's in the educational program for a period of three years.
